AN INTIMATE VISION

OF NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

I want to look at nature through the keyhole of my spirit. I have never pursued the documentary value of images but rather their artistic value. With this work I want to vindicate a more artistic vision of nature photography. In my opinion, its documentary function, which is necessary but not exclusive, has been abused. I don't care if what I'm photographing is a gannet or a flamingo, what matters to me is that the bird contains a poetic charge. I don't care if the tree is a cork oak or a poplar, what matters to me is conveying its effort to grow. If I photograph a cloud, I want the wind to be intuited. With photography I try to communicate the same impression, the same emotion that reality is producing in me, I am concerned with photographing what I feel more than what I see.

I seek the spirit of matter, the creative energy that I can feel both in a tree bursting with life and in a flower that withers, in the robustness of a lava formation and in the evanescence of a cloud formation, in the apotheosis of a sunset and in the discreet branch. When I feel, I feel …I feel in the solitude of the tree, in the leaf that refuses to fall, in the light that is dying... Photographing what I identify with is what will allow me to create artistic images: those that are part of me. To feel yourself in others is to make them yours. Art is a search for identity.

FOTOGRAFIA DE NATURALEZA

UNA VISIÓN INTIMISTA DE LA FOTOGRAFÍA DE LA NATURALEZA

Quiero mirar la naturaleza por el ojo de la cerradura de mí espíritu.Nunca he perseguido el valor documental de las imágenes sino su valor artístico. Quiero con esta obra reivindicar una visión más artística de la fotografía de la naturaleza.En mi opinión se ha abusado de su función documental, necesaria por otra parte, pero no por ello excluyente.No me interesa si lo que estoy fotografiando es un alcatraz o un flamenco, lo que me importa es que el pájaro contenga una carga poética.No me interesa si el árbol es un alcornoque o un álamo, lo que me importa transmitir es su esfuerzo por crecer.Si fotografió una nube quiero que se intuya el viento. Con la fotografía trato de comunicar la misma impresión, la misma emoción que me está produciendo la realidad; me preocupa fotografiar lo que siento más que lo que veo.

Busco el espíritu de la materia, la energía creadora que puedo sentir tanto en un árbol que estalla de vida como en una flor que se marchita, en la robustez de una formación de lava como en la evanescencia de una formación de nubes, en la apoteosis de una atardecer como en la discreta rama.Al sentir me siento: me siento en la soledad del árbol, en la hoja que se resiste a caer, en la luz que agoniza...Fotografiar aquello con lo que me identifico, es lo que me permitirá crear imágenes artísticas: aquéllas que forman parte de mí. Sentirte en lo demás es hacerlo tuyo. El arte es búsqueda de identidad.

PARADOXES AND IRONIES

My works are full of irony. I cultivate satire and uncompromising dark humor; I'm nothing more than a nihilist who makes up for my lack of hope with sarcasm. As a good comedian, I don't take anything seriously, least of all myself.

I have a profound admiration for objects, and I play with them; I manipulate them until I find unusual combinations that no one has ever seen before. As Juan Gelman said: "Poetry is when two words meet for the first time," or as in my case, "when two objects meet for the first time."

When I create, I pursue a single goal: to impact the viewer through originality. To achieve this, I use resources such as metaphor, paradox, irony, and contrast; resources without which poetic power would not exist. I eagerly seek "surprise."

FOTOGRAFIA CONCEPTUAL

PARADOJAS E IRONIAS

Mis obras están cargadas de ironías. Cultivo la sátira y el humor negro sin concesiones, no soy más que un nihilista que suplo mi falta de esperanza con sarcasmos. Como buen humorista no me tomo nada en serio y menos que nada a mi mismo.

Siento una profunda admiración hacia los objetos, y con ellos juego; los manipulo hasta encontrar uniones insólitas que nadie había visto antes. Como dijo Juan Gelman: “La poesía es cuando dos palabras se encuentran por primera vez"o como en mi caso “cuando dos objetos se encuentran por primera vez.”

Al crear persigo un único fin: impactar en el espectador a través de la originalidad. Para lo cual me valgo de recursos como la metáfora, la paradoja, la ironía, el contraste; recursos sin los cuales no existiría la carga poética. Busco con ahínco “la sorpresa.”
